Privacy Policy

MatchShop ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Shopify application that provides a swipe-based product discovery widget for online stores. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data We Collect

When a merchant installs MatchShop, we collect and store:

Shop domain and access token (required to authenticate with the Shopify API)
Product information (IDs, titles, prices, images) to build product catalogs
Order IDs and line item data from paid orders, used solely to track which catalog products were purchased
App configuration settings (catalog names, discounts, widget preferences)

On the storefront (shopper side), the widget uses localStorage in the shopper's browser to remember which products were liked or skipped, so the session persists across page navigations. No personally identifiable information (PII) about shoppers is collected or stored on our servers.

2. How We Use the Data

To provide and operate the MatchShop widget on the merchant's storefront
To allow merchants to create and manage product catalogs with discounts
To track add-to-cart and purchase events linked to catalog sessions
To improve the app's performance and features

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share merchant or shopper data with third parties, except as required by law or as necessary to operate the service (e.g., our hosting provider).

4. Data Retention

Merchant data is retained for as long as the app is installed. Upon uninstallation, data associated with the shop is deleted from our systems within 48 hours.

5. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access tokens are stored securely and never exposed to the storefront or end users.

6. Shopify's Role

MatchShop is built on the Shopify platform. Shopify's own privacy policy applies to data processed through their APIs. See shopify.com/legal/privacy.
